Subtally — Privacy Policy

Short version. Subtally stores your subscription data on your device and, if you turn on iCloud Sync, in your personal iCloud account. We do not run a server. We do not see, collect, or share your data. No analytics, no ads, no trackers.

1. Who we are

Subtally ("the app", "we", "us") is an iOS application that helps you track your recurring subscriptions. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles and how.

2. Data you enter in the app

The app lets you record information about your subscriptions, including:

Subscription name and optional notes
Amount and currency
Billing cycle and next billing date
Category, reminder settings, and icon preferences

This information is stored locally on your device using an on-device database. It is never transmitted to any server operated by us, because we do not operate any server.

3. iCloud Sync (optional, Premium feature)

If you enable iCloud Sync, your subscription data is stored in your own private iCloud container and synchronized across devices signed in with the same Apple ID. This data travels end-to-end through Apple's infrastructure and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to this container and no ability to read the data in it. You can disable iCloud Sync at any time from the app's Settings screen.

4. In-app purchases

Premium features are unlocked through auto-renewing subscriptions and a one-time lifetime purchase sold through the App Store. We use two services to process and verify purchases:

Apple App Store — handles billing, receipts, and subscription management. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat — validates receipts and manages entitlement state. RevenueCat receives an anonymous user ID generated on your device, together with purchase metadata (product identifier, price, purchase date). No personal identifiers, contact information, or subscription data you entered in the app are shared. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

5. Local notifications

If you enable renewal reminders, the app schedules notifications locally on your device using iOS's notification system. No notification content is sent to any server.

6. Home screen widgets

Widget content is rendered on your device from the same local data as the main app. No additional data is collected or transmitted when widgets are displayed.

7. Data we do not collect

No account creation, no login, no email required
No analytics, crash reporting, or behavioral tracking SDKs
No advertising identifiers (IDFA) are requested
No third-party ad networks
No location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access

8. Your choices and rights

Delete your data: remove individual subscriptions in the app, or uninstall Subtally to delete all local data.
Remove iCloud data: disable iCloud Sync in Settings, or delete the Subtally container from iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Manage subscriptions: iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.

9. Children

Subtally is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Material changes will be noted in the app or on this page.
